Felt the challenge to do something dynamic and very graphic for the spirit. Maybe inspired by the frank miller visuals but i've never seen the movie, just stills/ commercials. And I wanted it to look like the original that won the awards in the first place. A large part of this composition and style was influenced by the compositions and striking portrayals of the Alex Ross exhibit I went to in pittsburgh yesterday. Its definitly left an impression and a different way of looking at iconic heroes and compositions. Who doesnt love fedoras, trench coats and ties to illustrate, make the hero mysterious and illustrate motion/ dynamic movement. K, thats my long winded description of inspiration on this :) Fun character, will have to draw more!
The Comic Art Alliance is an art club created by Jess Kirby and Michael Powell. Every week we have a different art prompt, and anyone can participate. Simply email us at comicartalliance@gmail.com, and we will add you as an author. Then you can start posting your art to the blog. Entries can be in any medium, full finished drawings or sketches. All we ask is that it be on topic. Well, what are you waiting for? Let's draw!
