The Shadow - Clayton Johnston

I bet the Shadow stays warm in the winter. He's got his coat, scarf and a nice hat.krakadoom.com • @krakadoom

Syndrom by Clayton Johnston

As soon as I heard the subject of this week, this is what popped into my head.

Mendoza by Clayton Johnston

This is Mendoza from The Mysterious Cities of Gold. I loved this cartoon when I was a kid. It was a collaboration of French and Japanese animators, and aired on Nickelodeon in the U.S.

Dude From "Mad Men" by Clayton Johnston

I've never seen Mad Men. I think this is the boss. Any way, I like the actor. I had fun using my brush pen for this.

Joker Venom

Since I haven't posted anything on Comic Art Alliance for a while, I decided to combine two.

Shazbot! by Clayton Johnston

I came up with this idea last year or the year before. This gave me a chance to work on it again. Another version would be a combination of Capt. Marvel and Mork from Mork & Mindy.

Thanos by Clayton Johnston

As much as I enjoy drawing Thanos' face, I couldn't resist focusing on the Infinity Gauntlet.

Sgt. Rock by Clayton Johnston

I like that the thing which differentiates Sgt. Rock from other comic soldiers is his frequently missing sleeves and various signs of battle damage. Plus his cigarettes distinguish him from Nick Fury.

I experimented with crosshatching to give it a gritty texture. I used a brush pen and a mechanical pen.

Daredevil 2

I was still playing with the idea of Daredevil today, and decided to turn it into another post. I skipped pencils, and instead sketched it out with a cheap, red pen and a black Sharpie. The suit and skin color were added digitally.

The Dare-Devil by Clayton Johnston

This was a lot of fun. I decided to go with a more light-hearted take on Daredevil, so I used his original costume and went with a circus poster theme.

I don't use a brush pen often, so this was a fun experiment. My friend Kevin Steele inspired me to try using one again, and I borrowed his method for rendering DD's whip.

Silver Surfer by Clayton Johnston

I'm excited to put up my first post!
For some reason I'm always drawn to more alien looks for the Silver Surfer, which is why I went with a larger head and small nose & mouth and slightly large, almond-shaped eyes.
