Poisoned Apple

Watercolor on recycled watercolor paper. I was originally going to do The Godfather Death, but I didn't like how it was turning out so I just went with Snow White's poisoned apple.

Watercolor on recycled watercolor paper.  Poor guy looks tired here. I was re-reading some Our Army At War and I just got the feeling that Sgt. Rock would have to be so tired.  Being in charge of all the happy joes, saving lives, and giving out all that advice. Tough, but tired.

Soldier

A generic Vietnam War soldier, drawn in Procreate on my iPad. I wasn't the biggest Joe Kubert fan, but I certainly appreciate his importance to comics in general, and war comics specifically. I never really much cared for his super-hero stuff, but he was the best in the business of drawing war and soldiers. A comic written by Garth Ennis and drawn by Joe Kubert probably would've been pretty close to perfect.

Thought about the theme for awhile and I remembered Snake Mountain from the He-Man cartoons. I used to think it was so beautiful. I couldn't figure out why He-Man and Skeletor didn't trade. Castle Grayskull isn't that great looking, plus Snake Mountain had that amazing waterfall that looked like a waterfall of cherry Kool-Aid. It looked 10 times cooler when it came out of the snakes mouth.
This is acrylic on watercolour paper. Not the best choice but I've got a crap ton of bad watercolour paper I have to get rid of.

My absolute favourite comics from the golden age are the horror stories. I love the Old Witch because she was always talking smack about the Crypt-Keeper and the Vault-Keeper. I didn't want to screw this one up so I stuck with what I know, pen & ink on recycled Bristol.
