Balrog by Jess Kirby

Love the movies, but I know squat about the characters. This took about 2 hours, but 45 minutes of those two hours was trying to figure out who/what I was drawing. Hope I did the little demon justice.

Monkey and Agent Honeydew By: Aaron Walls

The Comic was great and the cartoon...well it was okay.

Statler and Waldorf

Love these guys. I remember when I watched this show as a kid, these two were the only ones I found funny. That should explain a lot!

Aaaahh!!! Real Monsters

The 90s weren't all bad...

Metal Men-Tina by Jess Kirby

I'm currently working on a large sized pastel drawing and since the room is a dusty, chalky mess I decided to use the pastels for this weeks topic. It was messy and fun, but I don't think I want to draw too many more comic book characters like this.

The Spirit by Mike Moran

I love the original comics of the Spirit!

Fun character!

The Spirit

The Spirit

I don't know too much about The Spirit so I just went with a quick portrait.

The Spirit by Michael Powell

The Spirit - By Eryck Webb

Felt the challenge to do something dynamic and very graphic for the spirit. Maybe inspired by the frank miller visuals but i've never seen the movie, just stills/ commercials. And I wanted it to look like the original that won the awards in the first place. A large part of this composition and style was influenced by the compositions and striking portrayals of the Alex Ross exhibit I went to in pittsburgh yesterday. Its definitly left an impression and a different way of looking at iconic heroes and compositions. Who doesnt love fedoras, trench coats and ties to illustrate, make the hero mysterious and illustrate motion/ dynamic movement. K, thats my long winded description of inspiration on this :) Fun character, will have to draw more!
